San Francisco Sunday Streets: Connecting the Community for 8 Years

William Fay, DDS, has resided in San Francisco for several years, operating out of his private practices in American Canyon and South San Francisco since 1971. The former vice president of the San Francisco Planning Commission, William Fay, DDS, played an integral role in guiding the development of the local community in recent years.

Inspired by the “Ciclovía” event in Bogotá, Columbia, which originated in 1976, the San Francisco Planning Commission adopted the open-street style event in 2008, dubbing it Sunday Streets. Since then, residents throughout the city have been encouraged to bike, walk, skate, and enjoy the best that the city has to offer in a safe, traffic-free environment in several communities throughout the year. In late August 2014, the 50th Sunday Streets event was celebrated in Mission, connecting thousands of participants to events such as yoga, free massages, live entertainment, and more. Earlier this year, the event spread throughout the Embarcadero, Tenderloin, and Bayview/Dogpatch communities, providing residents with free, healthy activities designed to foster communal awareness and respect.

Survey Highlights Importance of Orthodontic Care

An experienced oral health professional, William Fay, DDS, provides a high standard of orthodontic treatment to patients in American Canyon, CA, as well as other locations in the greater San Francisco area. For more than 20 years, William Fay, DDS, has been helping patients improve their smile.

According to a survey recently performed for the American Association of Orthodontists (AAO), 75 percent of respondents claim that orthodontic care helped improve their smiles to such an extent that it enhanced their career and even their personal relationships. More than 90 percent of those surveyed would suggest other adults seek out orthodontic solutions.

When broken down, the survey indicates that young adults report the best orthodontic outcomes. For example, over 85 percent of people surveyed between the ages of 18 and 34 report improved personal relationships following their treatments. According to data from the AAO, orthodontists treated 14 percent more adult patients between 2010 and 2012. The growth may have to do with more men seeking out orthodontic care to improve their appearance or to address oral health issues.
